The Shine Bright Sanctuary

A safe, supportive space for women navigating domestic and family violence

The Shine Bright Sanctuary is a free, welcoming support hub designed for women experiencing domestic and family violence who need connection, safety, and a place to breathe. Our Sanctuary offers a gentle, empowerment-based approach—not case management or crisis accommodation, but a compassionate space where women can access therapeutic support, community connection, guidance, and practical pathways to healing.

What We Do

At the Sanctuary, women can access:

We partner closely with local services – including Centacare – to ensure women are never navigating the system alone.

What We Do

Many women fall through the gaps of traditional services—especially middle-class women who may not meet thresholds for crisis support but still face significant emotional, psychological, and financial abuse. The Sanctuary was created to remove stigma, increase accessibility, and provide a space where women feel safe, understood, and supported without judgment.

Our mission is simple: To create a community where women can breathe again, rebuild safely, and step forward on their own terms.

Our Current Project: In Partnership with Centacare

The Shine Bright Sanctuary is currently working exclusively with Centacare to support women and children already engaged with their domestic and family violence services.

This collaborative pathway ensures:

This model ensures safety, continuity, and best-practice support for every woman and child entering our space.

Referral Pathway

There are two ways to access the Shine Bright Sanctuary:

1. Centacare Referrals (primary pathway): Women already linked with Centacare’s Domestic & Family Violence service may be referred directly to the Sanctuary for psychological support, group programs, and wellbeing services, please ask you Case worker for a referral.

1. Direct Enquiries to Chloe: Women who are not yet connected with Centacare can reach out directly to Chloe to discuss their current circumstances.

Chloe will guide them on the safest and most appropriate pathway—including linking them with Centacare first where needed—to ensure they receive proper domestic violence support, safety planning, case management and Sanctuary-based psychological support, once appropriate.
This ensures no woman falls through the gaps and everyone receives the right support, at the right time, in the right order.

To enquire or discuss your situation, please reach out through the Contact Us form on our website.

SMART Recovery commenced in Australia in 2004. It was piloted and trialled at Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital to offer the community another recovery treatment option grounded in science. The pilot program’s success allowed SMART Recovery Australia to become an independent non-profit organisation in 2007. It also enabled SMART Recovery Australia to expand an evidence based program that works to all addictions, not just alcohol and other drugs. Today SMART Recovery Australia partners with over 75 organisations, running 250 groups and delivering 13,000 individual meetings to over 130,000 Australians.

SMART Recovery is an evidence-based recovery method grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), that supports people with substance dependencies or problem behaviours to:

  • Build and maintain motivation
  • Cope with urges and cravings
  • Manage thoughts, feelings and behaviours
  • Lead a balanced life
